HOW DOES REGISTRATION PRIORITY WORK? Cyberkids Sports is a popular program in our neighbourhood. While we try to accommodate all children within our local community, we may be required to limit the number of participants. If necessary to limit registration, preference will be given as follows:
- Families where a parent has volunteered
- Children who were registered in Cyberkids Sports last year
- Children living in West Lansing (south of Sheppard Ave, West of Yonge St)
- Order in which the child's registration form and payment were received.
HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED? When forming teams, consideration is given to several factors including the balance of: (a) gender, (b) age, and (c) skill level. The goal is to formulate teams as evenly as possible.
CAN MY CHILD PLAY ON THE SAME TEAM AS THEIR FRIENDS? Yes. Where possible, we try to accommodate placement requests for childernt that wish to be on the same team as some of their friends. While ever effort will be made to accommodate these requests, it may not always be possible. If no friend requests are made, we try to place your child with a class mate or school mate.
WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF CYBERKIDS SPORTS?
Rumour has it that this is the 25th year of Cyberkids Sports. It was started by parents of the neighbourhood back in 1993 with a small group of kids and parent volunteers. Over the years, the format has morphed several times. We are currently working on finding out more about the history of the program. Let us know if you have details.
WHY IS IT CALLED CYBERKIDS?
See above answer. Back in 1993 Netscape Navigator was just getting started, so everything was looking particularly cyber-esque.
